Fried Faux-tatoes…

Faux-tatoes?  What?  That just makes no sense.  Surely I mean po-tatoes, right?

Just look at the picture: turkey meatloaf, broccoli, and fried potatoes…

Nope.

Yes, there is a nice piece of turkey meatloaf and a big serving of broccoli.

But…those are not fried potatoes; those are fried turnip pieces, meant to look like fried potatoes.

Faux-tatoes — false potatoes.

Just another bit of low-carb eye candy.  🙂

 

Faux-tatoes

  • peel a few small turnips
  • chop as you would for fried potatoes
  • boil for 5-10 minutes, or until turnip pieces are fork-tender
  • drain and add to fry pan
  • fry, in oil, until browned to your liking
  • optional: add onions to fry pan, along with tender turnip pieces
  • season, as desired
